What's ringing?

Have you ever wondered how a ring is resized?

The techniques can be determined by different factors – material type, adjustment size, and whether the ring will become smaller or larger.

One of the resizing methods is soldering, when a jeweler removes or adds a small portion of the band, reshapes the ring, then uses a torch to close the gap. Jewelers mask the alteration by creating nearly invisible welds and polishing the ring band.

Simple rings, like wedding bands, can be altered slightly by stretching or compressing the metal of the ring shank.

Can my ring be resized?

Most gold or silver rings can be resized by a skilled jeweler. However, some rings are unable to be resized due to elaborate gemstone settings, incompatible plating, unusual shapes, heat-sensitive gemstones, or ornate surface designs.

And if you just want to avoid the hassle, chose from
our collection of stretch rings - one size fits most!
