This Recipe Will Get You Excited!

Look at the three images below.
Do they have anything in common?

They all share something in common.

  • From left to right, pictures 1 and 2 share the same color palette.
  • Pictures 1 and 3 share the same rounded shape.

There is no secret to mixing patterns when you apply the same color palette to different patterns.

  • Pattern mixing is very much in, and makes for a very elegant look - even when casual.
  • The pop of color shows how well you've mastered a technique that is actually easy.

So, if this trend has your name all over it, but you don't really know where to start, fear not.

You know how we always gravitate towards one color palette?
Look in your closet, and you will quickly find many pieces in the same color, with different textures and prints.

Put outfits together, experimenting with their shape, fit and texture. You being confident is the most important part.

Back to our "drawing board", look how all the elements work when put together:

We hope you have a lot of fun trying it!

Greatness Goes Small

Hello, everyone!
Today I came across something so great and so small, I just had to share it with you.
I will also share some of the information I found, but first you have to look at this:

This is just a small (pun intended, again), sample of the art created by Dalton M. Ghetti.

He was born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil.
He came to the U.S. at the age of 24, and although he earned an Associate degree in Architecture from the Norwalk Community College, Connecticut, in 1994, he also works as a carpenter and house remodeler.

As you can imagine, his work is painstaking. Depending on the design, material and tools applied it can take weeks, months and years to complete a particular sculpture.

Then you think: "Ok, his work is cool. And small. Period". But there is more.
Dalton felt so deeply about the events on 9/11, that he decided to create a memorial honoring the three thousand victims of the attacks.
He carved teardrops from graphite of recycled pencils that were found on the streets.
Using a razor blade, he created one teardrop of about the size of grain of rice, in less than one hour.
Three thousand of them, on an average of 300 teardrops a year. It took Dalton 10 years to complete the three thousand necessary for the memorial.

Together, the teardrops make a large, two dimensional one, positioned against a white background.

For more information on Dalton and how to purchase prints of his work, visit http://www.daltonmghetti.com
His work is currently being exhibited in Columbus, Ohio, at the Rivet Gallery:
"Morphous" July 7 - July 31 1200 North High St. Columbus, OH, 4320 - Ph. 614-294-8697.

Finally, we all know that great things come ins mall packages. So here is a thought from American film director and screenwriter, Richard Linklater:

"No one is replaceable, because we are all the sum of small and beautiful details".

Hope you enjoyed it!

Maxi Jewelry & Tangled Chains

A loyal customer of ours has recently bought an over-sized necklace that had been on her wish list for a while. Here at YourBijoux, we like to call the over-sized pieces as "Maxi" jewelry. A shorter word for a style that is really grand.

She was very happy with her piece, and expressed a great deal of satisfaction when she saw the way her maxi necklace was presented to her - in its own individual padded box. I was equally happy to see that she had more than one reason to smile!
